I had the opportunity to see this place courtesy Bangalore Restaurant Week. I had never tasted food inspired by the cuisines of Baluchistan and jumped at the opportunity to go to this place.
The Lalit website states: Baluchi, the specialty restaurant at The LaLiT Bangalore, is all set to take you to the bygone eras of Baluchistan. It is the first five-star hotel restaurant of the city that pays homage to the delicacies of Baluchistan, and presents an authentic fare of Baluchi cooking.

The Ambiance:
The ambiance:
The walls had been covered with a thin sheet of copper & brass, which gave this place a rustic feeling.
The place was quiet and we were glad there were not too many people around as it gave me an opportunity to capture a clear image of the place.

Our Drink:
Our drink:
Our drink was a mix of fresh pineapple juice mixed with roasted cardamom and it was like nothing else that I had ever tasted. When asked, I was informed this was one of the special drinks that Baluchi offers.
We enjoyed the drink as it had a unique taste and perfectly matched the weather outside: scotching heat and Bangalore dust.

Pre Starters:
Pre-starters:
We were given a couple of different type of papads to keep us busy while our server got busy pacing our order to get the starters ready.

Our starters:
Well our starters arrived and they looked great!
We were served-
Tawe Ki Nazuk Machali (Delicate fish with an aromatic marination of pan roasted carom seeds & yellow chili powder cooked on tawa). Mr X. and I loved the fish as the spices did not over power the taste of the fish.
Zaffrani Murgh Ki Asharfiyan (Rare yellow chili & saffron marinated chicken finished with a touch of asafetida). The chicken was tender and I could taste cumin and a couple of other spices that I could not quiet figure out.

My Reaction to all this lovely food:
My reaction:
The quantity of food may not look too much; however, it is really filling. I am not a fan of mutton but the Gosht Rogan-e-Nishat was cooked well and it felt really tender when biting into it. This was also the first time I had rabbit meat and it felt like chicken. Chicken that has been to a gym and has developed muscles :-).
The food was enough to keep our tummies full and ensure we do not fall asleep after lunch.

Desserts:
Desserts:
We ordered the same desserts and were glad we had chosen this.
I apologize, I do not remember the name of the desserts but can tell you we had spiral gulab jamuns and apple that had been roasted on a pan with some honey and cinnamon.
I must try to prepare apples the way they had done here as they tasted good.

Finishing Touch:
Finishing touch:
We were offered pan, beetle nut, sugar cubes (mishri) and dried cherry to finish off our excellent meal. Good way to end a heavy meal.
